Sometimes, our love for someone stems from selfishness
We often love someone not for who they are, but for how they make us feel. And we do this same with the Creator! So, what is the Islamic perspective on love?

Why complain of perfection today, O Allah !
You only come to ask, sometimes come to meet as well.
😞 We are so Selfish Guys!
Sometimes I wonder—are we humans truly capable of selfless love, or are we just driven by our own desires? We often claim to love others, but deep down, is it only for what we gain in return?
And then I think…
If God were to declare: “There is no punishment, no reward, no Heaven, no Hell—do as you wish,”
How many of us would still bow down in devotion?
How many would still love Allah purely for who He is—not for fear of Hell, not for the hope of Paradise, but simply because He is worthy of love? Hahaha. I know the answer.
Here’s a beautiful reference from the Qur’an that speaks to that:
“Indeed, Allah is full of bounty to the people, but most of the people do not give thanks.”1
🌿 The Story: Musa and the Shepherd (as told by Rumi)
One day, as Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) was traveling to Mount Sinai to speak with Allah, he passed by a shepherd who was praying. The shepherd was saying:
“Oh God, where are You? I want to comb Your hair, wash Your feet, sew Your clothes, milk Your cows, and cook food for You. I love You so much!”
Musa was shocked and upset. He said to the shepherd:
“What are you saying? That’s not how you speak to Allah! He is beyond all of this. You are speaking blasphemy!”
The shepherd was devastated. He tore his clothes and ran into the desert, heartbroken.
Later, when Musa reached the Mount and spoke with Allah, Allah said:
“O Musa, why did you drive away My servant? You were sent to bring people closer to Me, not to push them away. Every soul has its own way of loving Me. I look not at words, but at the heart.”2
“I look not at words, but at the heart“. Read again. This is Allah. The Greatest. The Almighty. The Lover. Or should I say the Creator of Love.
💛 Make Him your Bestest Friend
How do we talk to our friends? We open up with them. Right? We laugh with them. Right? Most of the time, we just talk about things that aren’t even important. So why can’t we do the same with Allah? Like saying, ‘Allah, You know today I met my friend from school, and we laughed together.’ Just simple, heartfelt conversations like that. Allah says He is our friend3. He is the true friend — yes, a real friend, not just in name. The best friend of all.

True Love in Islam
When we love someone, we text them 24/7, follow their advice like it’s divine revelation, and panic if they don’t reply in 5 minutes. So if we claim to love Allah, maybe it’s time we treat His words with at least the same loyalty—and no, He’s never left us on “read”! 😄
