And the Sun Runs Its Course in Love —Deciphering the Quran
Decoding the verses of the Holy Quran
The sun isn’t just sitting there shining — it’s speeding through space at 828,000 km/h like it’s late for a divine appointment! But what what does Surah Ya-Sin say about the sun motion?

🌞 The Sun: Not Just a Static Light, But a Cosmic Superstar! 🚀
The Sun Wasn’t Always on the Move!
Once upon a time, people thought the Sun was like that reliable lamp sitting in the corner of your room. You know, the one that’s always there, doesn’t move, and just shines down on us all day. 🌞 It wasn’t until Nicolaus Copernicus1 came along and dropped the bombshell:
“Wait a minute, maybe the Sun’s not just chilling. Maybe it’s the one in charge!” 🌟 In 1543, Copernicus proposed the heliocentric theory, which basically said the Sun is the center of our solar system and everything else revolves around it.

🌌 A Little Time Passes… Sun Starts Moving!
Fast forward to the 19th century, and astronomers started figuring out that, guess what? The Sun wasn’t just chilling, it was moving through space! 😲 William Herschel, the guy who discovered the planet Uranus, started to map out the stars and found that the Sun, along with our entire solar system, was orbiting the center of the Milky Way galaxy.
It was like, “Wait, what? The Sun’s got a journey too?!” 🚗

What does Surah Ya-Sin say about the sun motion?
Science: The sun moves!
Quran: LOL, welcome to the party, you’re only 1400 years late
The Quran says in Surah Ya-Sin, verse 38, that Allah said:
وَٱلشَّمْسُ تَجْرِى لِمُسْتَقَرٍّۢ لَّهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْعَلِيمِ
“The sun travels for its fixed term. That is the design of the Almighty, All-Knowing”2
The word ‘travel’ is very important here. If you see the helical motion of the planets, you will notice something that is extremely fabulous. See this picture:

The sun is orbiting around the center of our galaxy, the Milky Way, and that center contains a supermassive black hole called Sagittarius A*.
The sun is moving through space, following a set path — as mentioned in the Quran: “And the sun runs on its fixed course…” (Quran 36:38).
Scientists now confirm that our sun is orbiting around the center of the Milky Way, moving slowly toward its eventual fate.
Though it won’t become a black hole itself, it’s traveling within a galaxy whose center holds a massive black hole — a reminder of how even stars have an end (So the Quran is even talking about Black Holes! Wanna read more? Click Here. You will Love it)
☠️ The Sun’s Epic Goodbye
Science: One day the sun will die!
Quran: Bro… it’s been clocking out since day one.
Sun: I’ve been heading to retirement — y’all just noticed?
Of course, even the Sun won’t be around forever. It’s got a “sunset” in its future — but don’t worry, it’s 5 billion years away. Yes, 5 billion. 😅 So no need to panic anytime soon!
White Dwarf
The sun will eventually exhaust its fuel and expand into a red giant, likely swallowing nearby planets.
After that, it will shed its outer layers and what remains will be a dense core called a white dwarf.
It won’t become a black hole, as it’s not massive enough, but it will mark the quiet end of our star.
🌅 Psychological message
No matter how massive the sun is, burning bright for billions of years…
One day, it will fade.
Even the giants fall — a reminder that strength isn’t forever, and nothing escapes the end.
So be kind, stay humble… and shine while you can. ✨🕊️
👑 Pharaoh Ramses II
Pharaoh Ramses II — a mighty ruler of ancient Egypt, called a god by his people, builder of temples, commander of armies.
But no matter his power, he died, and today he lies still, wrapped in cloth in a museum.
The Quran even mentions Pharaoh: “So today We will save you in body that you may be a sign for those after you.”3
💭 Even the strongest fall. No throne lasts forever. ✂️👑

My final words
The glorious Quran says:
“We will show them Our signs in the universe and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that this ˹Quran˺ is the truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is a Witness over all things?”4
Some people require only one sign, while others require numerous signs to embrace the truth. On the other side, there are others who, even after receiving thousands of indications, refuse to embrace the reality. The Quran describes these persons as:
“They are ˹wilfully˺ deaf, dumb, and blind, so they will never return ˹to the Right Path˺.”5
The Bible says the same thing:
“Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.”6
